Getting Started with Sakai (Teaching with Technology Bootcamp: Part 1)

LOCATION: Link Classroom 3, Lower Level, Perkins Library.

This hands-on workshop is designed to give Duke faculty and other instructors the knowledge and skills necessary to create and manage a course site in Sakai. During the session, you will get an overview of Sakai basics, including the most commonly used Sakai features and how to navigate the site settings. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Create and manage a course site,
  • Enable and manage commonly used Sakai tools,
  • Use the course organization tools and upload course materials to your site, and
  • Identify key features of the gradebook and understand TA grading permissions.

Bring your laptop so that you can work in your own course site(s) as you complete the workshop activities. Before the workshop, be sure you are comfortable logging in to Duke sites with your netID and password.
