Join this workshop for a quick overview of Patents

  • What is a patent?
  • Why are they important? 
  • How can you search for patents? 

By the end of this session, participants will be able to

  • Define the four types of intellectual property
  • Describe multiple types of patents
  • and perform a basic patent search

Patents are used to protect research in both academics and industry.  Attend this workshop to learn the basics. 

Jodi Psoter is the Librarian for Climate & Sustainability and Librarian for Marine Science & Conservation.  She teaches students, faculty, and staff how to make research more effective and the process more efficient using library resources. Jodi has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Library Science from Southern CT State University.
