DESCRIPTION:Join us for a panel on the growing threats to intellectual 
 freedom in higher education—from collection and program challenges to 
 censorship of research\, faculty expression\, and curriculum. Libraries and 
 universities play a vital role in protecting the right to seek\, share\, 
 and express ideas\, a cornerstone of democracy and academic life.\n\nThis 
 year’s Janie K. Long Speaker Series program will explore how we can 
 support students\, faculty\, staff\, and our community in safeguarding 
 these rights. We will also remember Duke alumnus Harry H. Harkins Jr.\, 
 T’73\, a dedicated supporter of LGBTQ  library collections\, scholars\, 
 and this series.\n\nSpeakers: Robin Koshelev\, Duke undergraduate 
 researcher\, Dr. Janie K. Long\, Duke faculty emerita\, Dr. Joseph Salem\, 
 University Librarian\, Dr. Pete Sigal\, Department of History\; moderated
