RESCHEDULED: Environmental Peacebuilding: A Conversation with Dr. Erika Weinthal
Professor of Environmental Policy and Public Policy in the Duke Nicholas School for the Environment, Dr. Weinthal is part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers exploring the concept and practice of environmental peacebuilding, defined in her co-authored 2021 paper (published openly in the journal International Affairs) as "the multiple approaches and pathways by which the management of environmental issues is integrated in and can support conflict prevention, mitigation, resolution and recovery." In a world where armed conflicts continue to rage and the environmental crisis is worsening, Dr. Weinthal's research emphasizes the critical need for collaboration to resolve those conflicts in keeping with principles of environmental consciousness.
Addressing the theme of Open Access Week 2022, "Open for Climate Justice," the Duke Libraries are hosting Dr. Weinthal to discuss her work in environmental peacebuilding.
