Duke University Libraries, HistoryMiami Museum, University of Miami, and DPLA (Digital Public Library of America) received a “Digitizing Hidden Collections” CLIR grant to digitize some holdings related to Pan American World Airways. The project created the first-ever commercial aviation portal in DPLA. Join us for a presentation, portal tour, and panel discussion webinar. Guest speaker Julia Cooke, author of Come Fly the World, will also participate in our presentation, outlining the need for this critical resource among aviation scholars and researchers.

The Cleared for Take Off: Explore Commercial Aviation website features digitized institutional holdings from all three institutions related to Pan American World Airways and aggregates all commercial aviation material in DPLA. Advertisements from Duke’s Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History are also available online separately as a digital collection.
