Deep Learning Image Analysis in Medicine
+DataScience (+DS) is a new initiative at Duke providing online training modules and in-person learning experiences to help people in all disciplines in the Duke community learn more about Data Science. Before registering for any of the in-person workshops, you should complete one or more of the four pre-requisite online modules.
Deep neural networks, particularly the convolutional neural network, have been applied effectively across a range of medical applications, including in dermatology, radiology, cardiology and ophthalmology. In this session we briefly review the mechanisms that underpin such neural networks, and place a focus on how they are being applied in medicine. Several recent advances of this type are discussed, as will be how such are likely to impact clinical practice. This session is targeted to members of the School of Medicine, but it is open to all.
