Duke Online Learning Collaborative: Predatory Publishing

Marilyn Oermann is the Thelma M. Ingles Professor of Nursing, and the Editor-in-Chief of Nurse Educator and the Journal of Nursing Care Quality. With a team of other editors, faculty from DUSON (Duke School of Nursing), and a medical librarian, she has completed studies on predatory journals in nursing. She received the Margaret Comerford Freda Award for Editorial Leadership in Nursing from the International Academy of Nursing Editors. In addition, Jolie Tingen, Duke Learning Innovation, who serves on the NC LIVE OER Advisory Committee (which is overseeing the Open Education North Carolina initiative) will speak about recent developments to promote OER in higher ed, both at the local and national levels.

 

These meetings are part of the Duke Online Learning Collaborative (formerly the Distance Education Special Interest Group) and open to all in the Duke community with an interest in digital education and online teaching and learning.
