Problems in Digital Publishing: Data Portability [Digital Publishing Workshop]

Making information public with a piece of software is easy.  What's less straightforward is how to move that information from one platform to another without losing any of the affordances, metadata, or other attributes attached to it.  This session will provide an overview of some common data migration tasks and describe best practices for ensuring that your digital work stays portable and sustainable.

The Digital Publishing Workshop series invites faculty, graduate students, and staff to explore digital publishing topics through informal workshops focused on specific concepts or tools. Hosted by Duke Libraries Digital Scholarship Services and co-sponsored by Trinity Technology Services, this series will help participants learn about practical ways to plan, develop, and contribute to digital publishing projects in the humanities.

Sessions feature brief topic overviews and tool demonstrations with open Q&A. Presenters will also highlight resources in the Libraries and at Duke for pursuing further work.  Following each workshop, participants are welcome to linger in the Studio for hands-on practice or follow-up consultations.
