[RCR; Online] Introduction to Digital Humanities Text Analysis
This digital humanities RCR workshop focuses on how to make the right choices when starting text analysis projects in the digital humanities. Participants will be introduced to the Orange data analysis platform--which requires no programming or command-line use--for exploring research techniques such as sentiment analysis and document classification.
We'll look at how these techniques have been used in scholarship and consider how to apply them ethically to different research scenarios. We'll also discuss the research ethics of using AI (as opposed to more conventional open-source tools like Orange) for the kinds of text analysis tasks we're undertaking. Participants will gain practical knowledge about how to perform automated textual analysis. Again, no coding is required, and no previous experience with text analysis is expected.
