Portfolio Boot Camp

Are you or your department interested in using portfolios for student capstone projects, certificate or program requirements, self-reflection activities, or formal assessment? Not sure where to begin? This three-day boot camp will cover the basics of why and how to design and implement a portfolio, plus teach you the basics of using PebblePad, Duke's ePortfolio tool. We will meet from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM for brainstorming, hands-on training, plus independent consulting. Lunch will be provided every day. Participants are expected to bring their own laptops.

Day 1:  Why portfolios? What do they look like? What should be included in a portfolio? What should you ask of your students? Why and how to include self-reflection?

Day 2:  How to create pages and portfolios. How to share with colleagues, publics, and for assessment. How to create templates and workbooks to create guided portfolios. How to organize materials effectively. How to build rubrics for assessment. Advanced settings and design ideas will be discussed.

Day 3:  How to set up a workspace to share assignments with groups of students (or colleagues). How to add graders to a workspace and provide feedback to students. How to organize feedback and assignments. Advanced features like peer review and outsider assessors will be discussed.
