Data Science Sampler: Using R to orchestrate APIs for Academic Research

The R programming language is a flexible and extensible environment for data manipulation and supports multiple data import methods. Application Programming Interfaces (API) support the harvesting of web-accessible data to create customized datasets.  This hands-on session will discuss and demonstrate the ingestion and manipulation of JSON formatted data from a publicly accessible API.  Techniques learned in this session can be transferred to harvesting from other data APIs.  Bring a laptop to do the hands-on activities, no [R] installation is necessary!
