Black and Pink Holiday Card Party

This semester Rubenstein Librarians worked with Dr. Jennifer Ansley's Writing 101 class on Women's Prison Writing. Reading the poetry, essays, and other writings by incarcerated women and learning more about activism with incarcerated people inspired us to host this event. Black and Pink is an organization that supports incarcerated LGBTQ people. One of their outreach programs is their annual holiday card parties to send messages of hope, kindness, and connection to people in prison.

At the program we will be decorating postcards to send to incarcerated people. Supplies and postage stamps will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own—please note that we can only use colored pencils and rubber stamps to decorate cards (no crayon, marker, or stickers according to their guidelines). Cookies  and drinks will be provided, and you may bring a bag lunch. Drop in for a little while or stay the whole time! The event will be held in the Beckstett Classroom, 150 Rubenstein Library.
