Libraries Staff Publishing - Who, Where, and How (M&M Digital Scholarship Group)

Come hear from your colleagues about the ways Duke Libraries staff share professional knowledge: in traditional journals and print publications to emerging platforms and presses. Arianne Hartsell-Gundy (Head of the Humanities & Social Sciences department) and Heidi Madden (Head of the International and Area Studies department) will talk about their experience co-editing books and working with a number of authors, and lead us through a discussion of the following article, which offers a practical guide for academic libraries staff wanting to publish:

Hahn, Trudi Bellardo, and Paul T. Jaeger. 2013. From path to publication: A path for academic library professionals. College & Research Libraries News 74, no. 5. https://crln.acrl.org/index.php/crlnews/article/view/8944/9676

We'll discuss the easy and more challenging outlets for publishing, how to come up with a topic for a publication, even how your colleagues can support you through the publishing process. If writing a chapter or article has felt daunting to you, we hope this session will inspire you to explore the possibilities and the benefits of sharing your expertise through publishing.
